Do what you love for a living!  Join the Blacktip Scuba team for 4 to 6 weeks and become a PADI diving professional in paradise.  Learn our local dive sites, perfect your dive skills and become a role model to other divers.

Course Requirements

You must be a minimum of 18 years old and already certified to PADI Rescue Diver level.  You must also have a valid CPR training certificate (for example the EFR course) and a medical certificate from a physician within the last 12 months.  You must also have logged at least 40 dives before commencing the Divemaster course.

Course Structure

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader of dive activities.  Through knowledge development sessions with your Instructor, skills workshops, in-water training and practical assessments, you will develop the skills necessary to control a variety of scuba activities. Topics and practical workshops include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers
  • Diver safety and risk management
  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills
  • Business of diving and your career
  • Awareness of the dive environment
  • Dive setup and management
  • Mapping an open water site
  • Conducting dive briefings
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive
  • Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course
  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

The course typically takes between 4 to 6 weeks.  Accommodation close to the dive centre can be rented on a monthly basis, please contact us for further information.
